The no. 79 had been driving slowly around the racetrack with possibly a puncture or broken wheel, and went into the racing line around a turn, leaving the no. 7 with no where to go other than into the gravel trap or rear-end the BMW. The no. 7 Audi R15 impacted the tire wall on the rear wing, and was stuck in the gravel trap. After being pulled out of the gravel trap, the no. 7 made it back to the pits, where it was taken into the garage and had body work, and rear wing replaced, as well as having a driver swap. Dindo Capello is now back on track.
