SEBRING, Fl — Just about the time Audi thought it might be able to start to make a move one the race-leading Peugoet, the wheels seemingly came off the wagon. Well the wheels did not come off but the Audi wen from being down by 2.5 seconds at the eight hour mark to more than a minute.
While the race has not yet reached the halfway point, the No. 08 Peugeot has shown a good set of strong legs and it has been the Audis, currently in second and third that have not been able to keep up the pace. The No. O7 Peugeot, however, has had some problems and is currently in in sixth place, eight laps down to the leader.
The Lowe’s Acura ARX-01B continues to lead the LMP2 class and currently carries a five lap differential over the second place Lola Mazda entry. The No. 3 Corvette continues to lead the GT1 class.
In GT2 a new leader has emerged — the No. 62 Ferrari F430 GT with Mika Salo currently at the wheel. The Ferrari holds a one lap lead over the second place BMW E92 M3 which at this writing is driven by Tommy Milner.
