Another race, another Acura day

LONG BEACH, Ca — Acura continued its dominance of the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) with a one-two-three finish at the Tequila Patron Long Beach event today.

Gil de Ferran and and Simon Pagenaud picked up their first win of the season, finishing a little over a second ahead of the other Acura driven by David Brabham and Scott Sharp.

Adrian Fernandez and Luis Diaz kept their record in the LMP2 class unblemished with another victory, but the Mazda was with them at the end, finishing on the same lap five seconds and change behind Lowes Fernandez car.

In  the GT1 class, it was no surpise that a Corvette was the winner — since only Vettes were entered. But perhaps it was a mild surprise that the winning team was driven by Olivier Beretta and Oliver Gavin as the other entry, driven by series leaders Johnny O’Connell and Jan Magnussen, expired on the 42nd lap.

In the GT2 class, the Flying Lizard Porsche 911 RSR took a five second lead over the Risi Competizione Ferrari. The Porsche was driven by Patrick Long and Jorg Bergmeister.

Next up for the series is the Utah Grand Prix at Miller Motorsports Park  just east of Salt Lake May 15-17.
