12:00 Le Mans, France – With 3 hours to go, the Audi R18 TDI driven by Andre Lotterer is currently leading the race. The one remaining Audi and 3 Factory Peugeot 908’s have been swapping the lead back and forth from late last night, to mid-morning, but the Audi lead has steadied and it is currently 45 seconds ahead of the next closest Peugeot 908.

With 18 hour completed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, it is still a neck and neck race. Currently there is a 30 second spread between the R18 TDI being driven by Benoit Treluyer and the 2nd position Peugeot 908 driven by Staphane Pagenaud and the 3rd position 908 driven by Alex Wurz. The Audi R18 is due in to pit momentarily and will probably take on fuel and tires.

At the half way mark #2 Audi R18 leads with Peugeot close behind

3:00 AM Sunday Le Mans France. The 2011 24 Hours of Le Mans is officially half over, the one remaining Audi R18 TDI is still topping the leader board with the 3 factory Peugeot’s close on their heels. The race has had some of the closest racing we have seen in the last 5 years, as well as some of the most terrifying moments in recent history with the 2 Audi R18’s crashing badly in separate incidents. One can only imagine how bad things would have been if Audi was still running a open top car.
