Both Audi and Peugeot pit for the final time.

Both Audi and Peugeot make their final pit stops at the same time. Audi had enough time to fill the R18 with enough fuel for the rest of the race, and get a new set of tires. Peugeot chose to only take on fuel, and not tires, trying to pass the Audi in the pit lane. The Audi R18 was able to get out of their pit box in front of the Peugeot 908 and should be able to set their own pace the rest of the race. Currently there is only eight seconds that separate the first position Audi R18 and the second position Peugeot 908.

 

One hour to go and first and second place are separated by 22 seconds

2:00 PM Le Mans, France – With an hour to go, the #2 Audi R18 TDI driven by Andre Lotterer is in the lead, but the second place Peugeot 908 HDI is only 22 seconds behind after 23 hours of racing. The race could still go to either manufacturer. The Audi team has gone for more speed overall, with the sacrifice of fuel economy, while the Peugeot teams have targeted 12 laps for each stint sacrificing the overall speed they have historically had. 12:00 Le Mans, France – With 3 hours to go, the Audi R18 TDI driven by Andre Lotterer is currently leading the race. The one remaining Audi and 3 Factory Peugeot 908’s have been swapping the lead back and forth from late last night, to mid-morning, but the Audi lead has steadied and it is currently 45 seconds ahead of the next closest Peugeot 908.
