Le Mans: Friday Night Drivers Parade

Friday Night found Alex, and I at the “Drivers Parade” in the Center of Le Mans. We were told to expect a lot of people, and some craziness. That could not have been closer to the truth. Since we didn’t know exactly where we were going, and the French don’t like to give directions, or information about things we ended up parking about 2Km away from the Parade. When we got there, the party was well underway.

Along the parade route

The Fans literally come out in droves, This is made much easier with the tram, which is a new addition to Le Mans.

Friday Pitwalk

The Friday at Le Mans is always a chill day at the track, The only thing going on for spectators is a pit lane walk-through, which really turns into quite the mob scene

Even though the day is suppose to be somewhat relaxing for the teams, as there are no cars going out on the track, there is still work to be done, Fasteners need to be triple checked, Brake lines bled, Brakes checked and rechecked and every bit of the car given the once over.

And still some have further work to do, here the crew of a Ferrari stands in the engine bay of a car, working on it for tomorrows race.

LE Mans, France — Peugeot continued it’s impressive string of qualifying wins at the Circuit du la Sarthe in the evening qualifying session and the French Lion will hold the top three positions on the grid when they drop the green flag on the race Saturday at 3 pm (+1 GMT).

The French team showed no signs of slowing down and the Audis showed no sign of getting faster during the evening session though one report indicated that when the teams were running together in racing trim both were turning laps in the 3:26-27 range.
